From rdoc at amazon.com Thu Jun 19 18:43:19 2025 From: rdoc at amazon.com (Dockins, Robert) Date: Thu, 19 Jun 2025 22:43:19 +0000 Subject: [Fw_Os_Forum] Confusion regarding generic error data entry fields Message-ID: <776DC388-1027-4C96-9A6D-ED6881EA6A7D@contoso.com> Hello all, I am confused about the intended interpretation of the Generic Error Data Entry record (Table 18.12 in version 6.6 of the ACPI spec, https://uefi.org/specs/ACPI/6.6/18_Platform_Error_Interfaces.html#generic-error-data-entry). Both the ?Timestamp? and ?Data? rows in the table are listed as having byte offset 64. This appears to be the case going back to version 6.1 of the spec. Are these fields intended to overlap, or is this an error? How should I interpret the ?error data length? in case the overlap is intentional? I can?t find any explanatory text. As best I can tell from looking at e.g., the Linux source for parsing this structure, this is just an error and the data should follow the timestamp field. Thanks for any pointers.
